CRAIG'S LIST BLUES...

DO YOU SEE THIS LOVELY RED KITCHEN AID MIXER....IT IS THE MIXER OF MY DREAMS, BUT RIGHT NOW I CAN'T AFFORD THE $300.00 PRICE TAG. I HAVE FANTASIES OF WHIPPING UP SOME GREAT CHEESECAKES, BROWNIES, AND CUPCAKES...JUST LIKE INA AND GIADA!

A FEW WEEKS AGO I STARTED SEARCHING CRAIGS LIST FOR A USED MIXER....I SAW ONE FOR $140.00, ONE FOR $130.00, A FEW FOR ABOUT $90.00- BUT, BY THE TIME I CALLED OR EMAILED, ...SOLD.... -ON SATURDAY NIGHT I WAS PERUSING AND NOTICED "A HOUSEHOLD DIVORCE SALE" ON CRAIGS LIST. A GAL WAS SELLING THE CLASSIC WHITE KITCHEN AID FOR $50.00- I CAN AFFORD THAT!. SO IMMEDIATELY I EMAILED HER THAT I WAS INTERESTED!! WE SET A TIME FOR 11:00AM SUNDAY MORNING TO TAKE A LOOK.. SHE GAVE ME HER PHONE NUMBER TO CALL HER WHEN WE ARRIVED AT HER APT. COMPLEX...AT 11:03 I CALLED HER NUMBER..
HI.MELISSA, WE ARE HERE! HER RESPONSE, OH, I TRIED TO CONTACT YOU VIA YOUR EMAIL, BUT COULDN'T FIND IT!... THIS MORNING WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE MIXER, I DROPPED IT AND IT BROKE!!!!

NOW IS THAT THE TRUTH, OR DID SHE SELL IT ALREADY TO SOMEONE ELSE....I SAID OH OK, GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DIVORCE SALE!!

NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS A LITTLE MAD...

SO NOW I AM SEARCHING E BAY FOR ANOTHER DEAL!! SO FAR, I HAVE BEEN OUTBID ON SEVERAL SLIGHTLY USED MIXERS--I AM GETTING FRUSTRATED! ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO BE THE WINNER OF MY VERY OWN SHINY KITCHEN AID!

You poor thing....these mixers are the best and I normally would hesitate about buying a used appliance but not these babies....They can last a lifetime....Do you have a Williams Sonoma outlet anywhere near you...Sometimes they have re-conditioned ones...or you may want to Google "reconditioned Kitchen Aids" and see what comes up...My husband is an expert at winning things on E-Bay...he seems to always know the right amount to bid.......husband said if you send me your full name and e-mail address he will send you something called E-Bay Sniper...you get the first three snipes for free....it's a service that bids for you in the last 5 seconds....
Another thing is to bid an odd amount...If the bid is sitting at $50.00 you would bid the maximum you want to pay like $62.35...something wacky...and then go in at the last few seconds....but if your interested in the Snipe thing let me know....

I find it hard to believe that you could drop one and break it Linda. Break whatever you dropped it one yes, or your foot, definitely, but the mixer. Mine is heavy and invincable - or so I'd like to think. I got it at Costco years ago and it was less there, but still pricey. Good luck on your search, it is the one kitchen appliance I couldn't live without.

Lindsey and would love to have the pink one! That story is such hooey, I think someone gave her more for it. I sure hope you get one soon. Sue has good advice. I hope you get one soon. I want to see you cooking like Ina and Giada too! Twyla

I agree with others that I think the story that she dropped it is bogus. I've had mine for nearly 25 years and it never breaks. I hope you find one soon at a reasonable price.

Sounds like a fishy story to me. Good luck on getting one. Mine too is nearly 25 years old and indestructible.

That's a weird story! I think she sold it to someone else. Good advice from Sue on how to bid and sniping-it really works! I bought my first one from an ad I saw on he Reader-it lasted forever and then I took it to a place in Escondido and for $25 they re-conditioned it and it was like new!

I waited a long time to get my Kitchen Aide Mixer but then asked for one as a birthday gift. After using it I kicked myself for not having one from day one of my marriage! It really makes baking, bread making etc, effortless.

I've hear that to have success on Craig's List you have to show up with cash the day you read the ad...otherwise you will lose out!

Good luck --keep trying!
