TODAY WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN SAN DIEGO...WE HAD SOME TICKETS FOR A WHALE WATCHING CRUISE, SO IT WAS A PERFECT DAY TO GET OUT ON THE WATER ON A 95 FOOT FISHING BOAT FOR A FEW HOURS....
EVERY YEAR CALIFORNIA GREY WHALES MAKE A 6000 MILE TRIP FROM THE BERING SEAS TO THE WARM WATERS OF BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO...THAT IS A LOT OF SWIMMING FOLKS!!
AFTER TWO HOURS OF NO WHALE SIGHTINGS, WE STARTED TO HEAD BACK TO THE MARINA, WHEN WE HEARD THE CAPTAIN YELL, "THAR SHE BLOWS"---FINALLY, TWO WHALES ABOUT 100 FEET OFF THE SIDE OF THE BOAT...CAMERAS WERE CLICKING AWAY...THE WHALES ARE OUT OF THE WATER FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS TO TAKE IN AIR THROUGH THEIR BLOW HOLE, SO YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY FAST TO GET A SHOT.....I SHOT SOME PICS, IF YOU LOOK REALLY CLOSE YOU CAN SEE THEM....THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL ....
WHAT COULD HAVE MADE THE DAY MORE PERFECT--- HOW ABOUT A PITCHER OF MARGARITAS TO HELP "US" WATCH THOSE WHALES HEAD NORTH.

I did see the whale in your photos after I clicked on it to enlarge it! Nice shot! That cruise sounds wonderful. I enjoyed our boat ride in the San Diego bay when we visited. I hope to go again with my husband in a couple of years.

Looks like a wonderful day....but you gotta rub it in about the beautiful weather....It snowed here Sunday for Pete's Sake!! and you need to find some S.D. bloggers to lunch with...I can't help much but I do know a ton of them from the northern part of the state....Too far to drive??
Awesome. I've never seen whales..., did see seals though in San Diego, and dolphins in St. Augustine FL.
I've always wanted to go whale watching - we have tours that launch out of San Francisco each year but I have never gone. How wonderful for you!!

I see them, I see them! Yay! I've never seen whales up close...I've seen dolphins a lot, believe it or not in NJ a lot in recent years, and most spectacularly when I was snorkling and minding my own business in the British Virgin Islands. I can't even tell you how excited I was...like a kid in a candy shop!!!
That new header photo on your blog is spectacular. LOVE! And thanks for your "bucket" comment on mine...I'm leaning towards leaving as-is. I think next weekend I'll put a "fancy table" together and see if those who voted for shining it may be swayed. :-)
