LA BADIA

A few of you have mentioned my new header photo. It is a photo of the entrance to La Badia, the hotel in Sorrento that were were lucky to stay at during our trip to Italy in 2007. It used to be a convent and is located on a hill overlooking the Bay of Naples. It is surrounded by a grove of olive and orange trees. Every morning after breakfast we would take a path through the olive trees and walk into town.
This was THE place we were introduced to limoncello....it became our ritual every night of our vacation to have a glass of limoncello. When we returned home, we went through a few bottles that summer. Some of our friends, and I think my sister Lisa, said it tasted like lemon pledge!

Janie, at Panini Girl, made a list of 10 things she would rather be doing on her blog. I believe they all had something to do with Italy. I would like to add to the list....I would like to be sipping a glass of limoncello on the balcony above, with that man in the picture, enjoying the view!

Hi Linda Lou, thanks for visiting my blog the other day--I've been busy with company and wedding plans and so I've been late getting around to see you. I've really enjoyed your blog a lot. My husband and I spent a week in San Diego for our 30th anniversary a couple years ago. We loved it all, but especially our time hanging out in La Jolla watching the seals and strolling along the ocean. Where on LI did you grow up? I'm from Rockville Centre!

Hi Linda

I'd also rather be anywhere on the Mediterranean Sea in Italy right now! Such beautful scenery and good food there. La Badia looks so beautful in your photos.

We also love lemoncello. My husband's older sister, who lives in southern Italy, makes it herself from her own lemons.

Oh....MY!! Simply stunning. When I went to Italy, apple grappa became my "limoncello," if you will. When I got home everyone was like, "ummm...that tastes like lighter fluid with apples in it." Admittedly, they may have been on to something. ;-)

I love, love your photos…thanks for sharing!
